Mike has been a GP since 1990. After completing his formal training in Birmingham (UK), Mike spent two years working in New Zealand before moving to Australia in 1992 where he helped to establish a GP practice in Hervey Bay. In 2000 he moved to Brisbane to complete a PhD in immunotherapy of late stage melanoma and in 2013 he joined SmartClinics Chermside from the Indooroopilly Day & Night Medical Centre. Mike enjoys all facets of medicine as each day brings something new and interesting. In particular, he thrives on the variety and patient contact, and the opportunity to guide his patients through good times and bad. Outside of medicine, Mike has a passion for things mechanical and loves a challenge to get an old engine or electronic component working. Other hobbies include woodwork, restoring and maintaining old motorbikes and cars and astronomy. Mike is married and has one child who has just finished his degree in Chemical engineering at UQ.
