Dr Michael Beitz (Anaesthetist)

Dr Michael Beitz was involved in full time military service in South Africa between 1979 and 1981 which saw him practise as a Medical Officer in the army front line, in various other posts as well as working in a mission hospital in a third world environment. Dr Beitz also practised in internal medicine and radiology at the No. 1 Military Hospital in Pretoria.

In 1997 Dr Beitz moved to Perth where he initially worked as a Consultant Specialist Anaesthetist at Royal Perth Hospital.

Professional Interests

Dr Beitz practises in a wide variety of fields including in adult and paediatric anaesthesia.

Professional Training and Experience

Having graduated in 1977, Dr Beitz completed his internship in 1978 in one of the tertiary teaching hospitals in Johannesburg, which was affiliated to the Medical School of the University of the Witwatersrand.

During training, Dr Beitz was extensively involved in cardio-thoracic anaesthesia involving adult, paediatric and neo-natal practice. Whilst still in South Africa Dr Beitz entered private anaesthetic practice and continued to hold a sessional consultant post in the Cardio-thoracic Department of the Johannesburg General Hospital.
