Dr Maureen Khan hails from the beautiful islands of Fiji and studied medicine there. She has been working in the Emergency Department at the Mt Isa Hospital since 2009. Together with her husband Ramzan and 3 children, 2 of whom are proud Mt Isa born (while 1 is a Kiwi - oops!), they call Mt Isa home.

Maureen found herself incorporating a holistic approach towards her patients even in the emergency department, this lead to her interest in preventive health and family medicine. Following this interest, she went on to complete her fellowship with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine to work as a GP. Maureen also completed advanced training in Emergency Medicine working as an SMO in the local hospital ED.

She has special interests in Child and Women’s Health and received her Post Graduate Diploma in Child Health from the University of Sydney and is also an instructor for the Advanced Paediatric Life Support Course. When she is not working, you might bump into her at the soccer fields, Fun Park or in the city library with her family.
