With over 15 years’ experience in Genetic Medicine, Mary-Louise graduated from the University of Newcastle in 1988 and trained in paediatrics at Sydney Children’s Hospital. She completed her clinical genetics training at Sydney Children’s Hospital and The Children’s Hospital, Westmead, in 1999. Mary-Louise is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Fellow of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia. She has previously served as President of the Australasian Associated of Clinical Geneticists. Mary-Louise is a Conjoint Senior Lecturer in the School of Women’s and Children’s Health at the University of NSW. As a staff specialist at Sydney Children’s and St George Hospitals she regularly undertakes prenatal genetic clinics at the Royal Hospital for Women. Mary-Louise is also a VMO at the Canberra Hospital. Mary-Louise has a broad range of clinical experience in the diagnosis, investigation and management of genetic conditions which may arise prenatally, in paediatric patients and for disorders arising later in adult life. A large part of her practice involves meeting with children with developmental or health issues, and their families, to consider underlying diagnosis to assist in the management and understanding of a particular condition. Mary-Louise regularly provides advice to couples planning a pregnancy who are concerned about their family history, or when unexpected findings are detected in a pregnancy. Mary-Louise also has an interest in connective tissue disorders.
