Martin is now entering his fortieth year in medicine, having commenced his training at St Marys Hospital in London (where penicillin was discovered and the royal babies are born) in 1978. After completing his General Practice and Obstetric training and gaining experience in several vastly different locations around the world he became a partner for ten years in a busy practice in Portsmouth (UK). In 2005 Martin moved with his family to Australind and has been working at Australind and Eaton Medical Centre ever since.

Although he enjoys doing “real” general practice whenever he gets the chance most of Martin’s work is taken up with Obstetrics and Family Planning. He provides antenatal and postnatal care and has admitting rights for deliveries at Bunbury Hospital and St John of God Hospital, Bunbury.

In addition to providing total pregnancy care Martin also participates in shared care arrangements with specialist obstetricians for ladies with complex problems and has collaborative arrangements with a number of local independent midwives to provide support and advice for those ladies seeking an alternative pathway to traditional obstetric care. Martin was involved in the setting up of and now provides medical support for the nationally renowned Bunbury Midwifery Group Practice which amongst other options allows suitable mothers to consider public care homebirths and waterbirths.

As a commitment to equality for all women Martin bulk bills at present all antenatal maternity consultations and all post-natal care up to and including the 6-week check.

Martin’s specialist fellowship qualification in family planning allows him to offer the usual range of family planning options in addition to the fitting of copper coils and diaphragm fitting and advice. He has also undergone advanced training in the Billings Method of natural family planning.
