Doctor Mark Stevens is a cancer specialist, trained as a Radiation Oncologist. Mark can treat any tumour type, although his special interest focuses on the treatment of the Prostate, Head & Neck, Gynaecological, Lung, Breast, Palliative and Skin cancers. In the 1980’s Mark achieved a BSc (Medicine) in immunology and his MBBS at the University of Queensland. He completed a Master of Medicine in Pain Management at the University of Sydney in 2008. He has also been awarded the C.E. Eddy Prize (RANZCR) and was the Thomas Baker Fellow (RANZCR). Mark completed his specialist training at the Royal North Shore and Royal Prince Alfred hospitals. As well as his clinical interests, he is heavily involved in education as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney, where he teaches undergraduate medical students. He has a wealth of knowledge, presenting at many scientific meetings around the globe; including the American Brachytherapy Society General Meeting in San Diego, the European Cancer Congress in Vienna and RANZCR 68th ASM in Perth. Mark has many career highlights over the years including; establishing MRI-guided brachytherapy care pathway in Australia for cervical cancer at RNSH (2010), introduced Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation to Australia and published the first end-results (2013) and the first to describe and name the Malignant Psoas Syndrome, now recognized as a distinct cancer-associated mixed somatic-neuropathic syndrome. Furthermore, Mark is a member of several professional societies including the American Brachytherapy Society, Society of Gynaecological Oncology and Urology Oncology Advisory Group, NSW Cancer institute.
