Associate Professor Mark Rickman is a world renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in conditions of the pelvis, hip and knee.
As part of the Adelaide Hip and Knee Centre team, Associate Professor Rickman provides a consulting, surgical and 24 hour trauma hotline service for his patients in Adelaide.
About Mark Rickman: Mark trained in the UK, including his advanced orthopaedic training in Oxford from 1999 to 2004. He undertook his fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Adelaide for a year focusing on the management of hip and knee arthritis, and then undertook a fellowship in Bristol, England, specialising in pelvis and other trauma management.
For the following 10 years Mark was a Consultant at St George’s Hospital in London – one of four major trauma centres in London. His last 3 years there was as head of the department. He had a successful private practice at the highly regarded King Edward VII Hospital in central London where he was part of the on-call service for the British royal family, and worked for 2 royal families from the Middle East. He was also employed by two top football teams in the English Premier League (Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur).
In 2015 Mark and his family returned to Adelaide where he now works at the Royal Adelaide Hospital as the Director of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service and also as a clinical academic at the University of Adelaide.
