Dr Boon is a local graduate of Brisbane whose family were pioneers of Nambour. He holds graduate bachelor degrees in Medical (Research), Science, General Medicine and Surgery, and a post graduate Masters in Geriatric medicine and Chronic Disease Management and Graduate Diploma in Palliative Care. He is certificated in radiography, pharmacy, manual medicine, acupuncture and has had over a decade of experience as a rural Medical Superintendent, Aboriginal Health Care and Royal Flying Doctor Service. He is a guest lecturer in Nursing at the University of the Sunshine Coast, a Medical Team member in Queensland Health Transitional Care Program (TCP) and is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society for academic achievement at Edith Cowan and Sunshine Coast Universities.
