Professor Mark Adams graduated with first class honours from the University of Sydney in 1987 and completed general cardiology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital before completing a PhD at the Heart Research Institute and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. These studies into the cellular mechanisms involved in the early development of coronary atherosclerosis, led to the award of the Ralph Reader Prize in 1996.

Postdoctoral studies and training in Interventional Cardiology were pursued at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard University in Boston prior to taking up a position as an interventional cardiologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 1999.
