Mahila is a specialist in Paediatric Allergy and Immunology. Since 2007, Mahila has been involved in the care of babies through to adolescents with a range of allergic and immune disorders. Her special interests include food allergy/anaphylaxis and primary immunodeficiency disorders. Mahila’s patients have access to allergy testing, selected food challenges, immunotherapy, and paediatric dietetic services. After completing her medical degree at the University of Adelaide, Mahila completed her Internship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. She then undertook paediatric training the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide and further specialist training at Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick. Mahila is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and an active member of the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA), World Allergy Organisation, and Federation of Clinical Immunology Society. Mahila is passionate about promoting the welfare of her patients and is a representative on the working party for the National Allergy Strategy, an initiative of the ASCIA and Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia, to develop national allergy safety guidelines and advance medical care, education, and research to benefit patients with allergic disorders. Mahila recognises the importance of training future generations of doctors about allergy and immunodeficiency disorders in children. She is a Conjoint Lecturer at UNSW and has been involved with lecturing and examining undergraduate UNSW medical students and teaching and mentoring postgraduate paediatric FRACP examination candidates. Mahila was awarded her Masters in Medicine by the University of New South Wales (UNSW) for her research in the immunology of cytomegalovirus. Mahila has published peer-reviewed guidelines on the management approach of children with immunodeficiency. She has also authored on food allergy in GP publications. Mahila has presented her research work on food allergy, eczema, primary immunodeficiency disorders and periodic fever syndromes at local, national and international conferences.
