Dr Madhivanan Sundaram (Nephrologist)

Dr Madhi Sundaram is a physician and Nephrologist. He has been working aa a consultant in the Nephrology speciality at the Royal Darwin Hospital since 2011 and is transferring his private commitments to NT medical specialists from June 2016. Dr Sundaram commenced his medical training in 1992 and has had training in Internal medicine and Nephrology. He underwent his renal training at Christian Medical College, Vellore which is a major tertiary care referral unit for South Asia and worked as a consultant there for 5 years before moving to Australia.

Having worked in tertiary care units all along, he has a wealth of expertise in managing complex nephrological issues, dialysis, acid and electrolyte disturbances, transplantation and immunosuppression. He has authored/ co-authored about 40 publications in several peer reviewed journals and nephrology textbooks. He has a keen interest in teaching and has taught medical students and post graduate trainees since 2007. He is amongst the editorial panel of renal journals and is a member of several nephrology societies. Currently he is supervisor for renal trainees
