Dr Madeleine Cooke completed her Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 2006, after completing her clinical school years at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. She then moved back to her home state of Queensland to complete her internship and residency. Knowing very early on in her medical career that she wanted to practice in women’s healthcare, she once again went to Melbourne so she could gain skills at one of the largest tertiary women’s hospitals in Australia, The Royal Women’s. This is where she was accepted onto her specialist training program. She has worked at Toowoomba Hospital, The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Redcliffe Hospital, Gold Coast University Hospital and Ipswich Hospital. She was always keen to work with rural women, undertaking rotations at Wangaratta Public Hospital, Traralgon Hospital and Tamworth Base Hospital. Madeleine also completed a Bachelor of Applied science, with First Class Honours (Hons. I) at University of Queensland prior to undertaking medicine. Madeleine has focused her training to continually develop skills in laparoscopic surgery and be at the forefront of the best evidence based obstetric and gynaecology care. Madeleine’s great joy is her family and three wonderful children. Madeleine is now excited to be part of a team helping provide women’s healthcare to the region.
