Dr Maccheron completed his advanced ophthalmic training in Brisbane in 2007. In 2008 he performed a corneal, cataract, and refractive surgical fellowship at The Queen Victoria Hospital and Centre for Sight, United Kingdom. His sub-specialty areas of interest are advanced corneal grafting techniques, complex cataracts and refractive surgery.
He also manages medical retinal conditions such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration, as well as any ophthalmic emergencies. Dr Maccheron is a visiting sub-specialist at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and a senior clinical lecturer for the University of Queensland. He has received awards including the William Nathaniel Robertson Scholarship (Univ Qld) and the RANZCO–Allergan Scholarship. He has numerous publications, and has presented at both national and international meetings.
Dr Maccheron is a Fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, a member of The Cornea Society, and a member of the Australasian College of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
