Dr Murphy’s philosophy is to ensure that his patients feel they have a safe and supportive environment, in which they can explore their mental health concerns. He specialises in a variety of mood disorders and other health issues including: Treatment resistant depression Schizophrenia Mood disorders General adult psychiatry Workers’ compensation Medico-legal PTSD ADHD Dr Lucas Murphy completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales in 1995. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. He is also a member of the Forensics Psychiatry Subspecialty. Dr Murphy has worked in psychiatric practice since 1997. He has been working in the field of forensics since 2000. His previous positions include Medical Superintendent at Shell Harbour Hospital and Tamworth Hospital, New South Wales. Dr Murphy is WorkCover NSW (PIRS) accredited. Since 2007 he has completed over 500 Independent Medical Examinations and reports for a variety of clients. His professional interests include, but are not limited to, occupational psychiatry, treatment-resistant depression, adult attention-deficit disorder and electro-convulsive therapy. Some of his assessment specialties are adult and general psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, PTSD and adjustment disorders.
