Dr Lisa Capelle (Radiation Oncologist)

Dr Lisa Capelle is a consultant Radiation Oncologist at Radiation Oncology Centres (ROC), Cairns.

Dr Capelle completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 1999. She completed her radiation oncology training at Auckland City Hospital, New Zealand and was awarded fellowship to the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2008. She completed a 2 year fellowship at the Cross Cancer Institute, Edmonton, Canada in July 2011. During that time she was involved in basic science research on cellular effects of low dose radiation, and also clinical research into skin sparing radiotherapy for breast cancer and adaptive radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. In May 2011, she was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) and worked as a locum Assistant Clinical Professor in Radiation Oncology at the Cross Cancer Institute from October 2011 to September 2012 specialising in the areas of head and neck cancer and radionuclide therapy.

Dr Capelle has been a consultant for ROC since late 2012 and in 2014 became the clinical director of Cancer Care services for Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.

Dr Capelle has a special interest in head and neck, gastrointestinal, lung and breast cancers.
