Dr Laurie Chitti is a consultant gastroenterologist at Flinders Medical Centre and Western Hospital. He has a special interest in Coeliac Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Colorectal Cancer Screening. Dr Chitti graduated from medicine at the University of Adelaide in 1995. He trained in gastroenterology at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre, and was awarded his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2002. Dr Chitti has worked as a consultant gastroenterologist at Flinders Medical Centre since 2003. He has a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and is involved in research and delivery of patient care through the IBD service at Flinders Medical Centre. Dr Chitti also has a special interest in Coeliac Disease, and has collaborated in research in this area with the CSIRO. A senior lecturer at Flinders University, Dr Chitti has a particular interest in medical education. He was Director of Physician Training at Flinders Medical Centre from 2003 to 2013, and remains involved in the teaching of medical students and supervision of advanced trainees in gastroenterology. Dr. Chitti has consulted privately at Western Hospital since 2003. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and colonoscopy.
