Born in South Africa, Dr Ras completed her studies at University of Pretoria, South Africa. She worked in the SANDF as uniform member 1992 -2003, before going to the UK to work as a GP from 2003 – 2007. Her and her husband returned to South Africa in 2007, where she worked for International SOS. They arrived in 2008 in Australia and she completed her RACGP Fellowship not long thereafter. Since arriving in Australia Dr Ras has worked extensively as a GP as well as working for ADF recruitment International SOS. In her spare time, Kotie and her husband are keen birdwatchers, and will go far and wide in search of a bird. Keen joggers both, they run parkrun on Saturdays and participate in City to Surf yearly.
