Dr Vandeleur completed his ophthalmology training in 1983 and has participated in post graduate studies in Canada, the USA, Italy, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. His primary areas of ophthalmological interest include cataract and refractive surgery. He also specialises in vitreo-retinal and retinal detachment surgery.
In 1994 Dr Vandeleur developed and subsequently became director of Brisbane's first licensed free standing ophthalmic day surgery - Eye Tech. The Excimer Laser Centre is another day surgery, which he also helped establish in 1991.
Dr Vandeleur is a member if the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RACO) the Oceania Retinal Association (ORA) and the International Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ISCRS).
