Achieved the highest mark in Australia in the Final Examination of the Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, 1993. Drummoyne Dermatology - Karen StapletonAwarded the Australasian College of Dermatologists Travelling Fellowship, 1993, enabling her to attend Clinics at the National Institute of Health, USA and other dermatology centres in the USA. Recognised as an International Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, 1999 Undertook one years Paediatric training at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children, 1988 Graduated from the University of NSW with Honours Class 1, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, 1986. During the final year of her MBBS degree Dr. Stapleton was awarded all five prizes by St. George Hospital. The Keith Harrison Memorial Prize for the highest mark obtained and general proficiency in Medicine in the final degree examination. The AC Thomas Memorial Prize for the highest mark in Clinical Surgery in the final degree examination. The CV Salisbury Prize for the highest mark obtained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the final degree examination. The HP & RL Melville Memorial Prize for general proficiency in Surgery in the final degree examination. The Gilbert Ashby Memorial Prize for general proficiency in the final degree examination. Previous Hospital appointments have included VMO Dermatologist at Westmead Hospital where she worked for ten years. In addition to Clinical practice, Dr. Stapleton regularly lectures to post-graduate trainees, general practitioners, Dermatologists and other Specialists. Dr. Stapleton has published papers in the following journals: Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Archives of Dermatology Pediatric Dermatology Australasian Journal of Dermatology Participates in the formal Continuing Professional Development Program of the Australasian College of Dermatologists.
