Dr. Kara Forde is a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist who holds a medical degree from the National University of Ireland and has worked in Brisbane since 2001. Dr. Forde has worked exclusively in the practice of psychiatry, in a broad range of hospital and community settings, since 2002. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of psychiatrists and has completed advanced training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
As a medical doctor who specialises in the treatment of mental illness Dr. Forde is able to diagnose and treat a range of conditions which may result in emotional, behavioural and relationship difficulties. She uses both medication and nonmedication based therapies to assist children, young people and their families to manage mood, anxiety, trauma related, eating and other disorders. Dr. Forde believes it is important to work not just with the young person, but also their family and other supports, in order to achieve the best outcomes.
