justin was first inspired to train in infectious diseases doing volunteer medical work at hospitals in the Solomon Islands and Ethiopia as a final year medical student.
After graduating from the University of Melbourne, he went on to complete dual specialist training as both a general and infectious diseases physician. During his advanced training, he was privileged to work at the Royal Darwin Hospital, Alice Springs Hospital, Royal Hobart Hospital, Royal Melbourne Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne over a five year period. His special interests include the management of complex bacterial infections, work-up of fever of unknown origin and other diagnostic dilemmas, management of tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections and refugee health.
Justin also works with Albury Wodonga Health public hospital, providing inpatient care for general medical and infectious diseases patients, heading the antimicrobial stewardship team and providing an infectious diseases consult service across the range of specialty areas. He has a passion for teaching, and lectures at the Rural Clinical School of the University of New South Wales.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time in the outdoors along with his wife and two children, landscape and wildlife photography and cultivating an organic blueberry orchard.
