Julian graduated from medicine at the University of Sydney, after studying English Literature and Philosophy there as an undergraduate. He trained in psychiatry at Concord Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Canterbury Hospital and Westmead Hospital. He specialised in Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry, the branch of psychiatry which specifically deals with the interface between physical and mental health. He is currently employed as a Staff Specialist in Consultation-Liaison (CL) Psychiatry at Concord Hospital and is a clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney. Although his CL background means he has particular expertise in working with individuals who have complex mental and physical health issues, he is comfortable treating the full range of psychiatric disorders in patients aged 17 and above. He has additional subspeciality experience in perinatal psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and cancer care (currently he provides psychiatric liaison to the Department of Haematology at Concord Hospital). Julian will be available for appointments monthly (second Saturday of each month) from January 2018. He will be working within a "shared care" model whereby the referring GP (and clinical psychologist or other therapists) will be primarily responsible for treatment, guided by a comprehensive opinion, report and ongoing oversight on his part.
