Professor Joseph Hung holds current appointments as Honorary Senior Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia and Emeritus Consultant Cardiologist at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
He graduated M.B. B.S. (Honours) from the University of Sydney and trained in Cardiology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia. From 1979-1982, Professor Hung undertook a fellowship at Stanford University Medical Centre in California, USA, followed in 1983 by a fellowship at the Montreal Heart Institute in Montreal, Canada.
He was awarded Fellowship of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) in 1993 in recognition of his professional standing internationally. He is a Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA) and Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (FCSANZ). He has been an elected board member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand since 2010.
Professor Joseph Hung consults in all aspects of clinical cardiology including acute and chronic ischaemic heart disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, and cardiac prevention. His subspeciality expertise includes echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, exercise stress testing, non-invasive imaging, coronary angiography, and cardiac prevention.
He has admitting rights at St John of God Hospital, Subiaco and consults privately at Western Cardiology, Subiaco, and Sanori House, Joondalup.
