Dr John Spencer grew up and was educated in Esperance. He graduated from UWA in 1986, and undertook rural training including paediatrics, obstetrics and anaesthesia. He moved back to Esperance in 1993 as a rural GP with advanced Diploma in Obstetrics, Anaesthetics and interest in minor surgery, sailing and windsurfing.
