Dr John Sykes was born in Bristol, UK and completed his training with the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2017. Dr Sykes has a keen interest in using positive lifestyle changes to reduce, prevent or reverse disease to help his patients lead healthier happier lives. John is a Trustee and Director of the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine and is a Fellow of the Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine.
Since qualifying, Dr Sykes has developed several areas of interest including mental health, ENT, elderly care, paediatrics and dermatology. Dr Sykes also has a keen interest in chronic disease management such as hypertension, diabetes, obesity, smoking and heart disease.
In his final year of training he was awarded the Severn Deanery Central Leadership Scholarship in which he organised the local committee, arranged and delivered several conferences and teaching sessions for GPs and medical students.
