JOHN CHALMERS holds an Honours degree in Psychology from Macquarie University, as well as a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Masters of Science from the University of Sydney. John is an Associate Member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).

John is warm and dedicated, committed to working collaboratively with clients to help them understand and overcome their current challenges. He utilises and integrates a range of evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Mindfulness, and attachment-based approaches. John takes care to individualise treatment to best support each client’s needs.

He has experience working with adults and families across private and hospital treatment settings, in both individual and group formats. He has worked in an inpatient mood disorders unit for adults, and worked with adolescents undergoing treatment for cancer. His experience includes providing assessment and treatment for anxiety, depression, bipolar, adjustment difficulties, and interpersonal difficulties. He also has specific training and experience in the assessment and treatment of child behavioural difficulties using an integrated family intervention approach, and is committed to helping parents work together to build strong attachments and nurturing environments for their children. John has particular interest in the treatment of anxiety disorders, reflected by his research into the psychophysiology of anxiety, and has published in this area.
