Dr John completed his medical training at Glasgow University in Scotland. He spent 17 years as a GP in Dubai and 4 years at a teaching post in Oman, teaching general practice to medical students and young doctors. He became quite experienced in semi-tropical medicine during this time and also witnessed many nutritional deficiencies, piquing his interest in nutrition as a basis for good health. Special Interests and Expertise Dr John has a particular interest in Nutritional Medicine and the correction of nutritional deficiencies. An advocate of clean eating, Dr John believes the quality of food plays a huge role in overall health and wellness. High amounts of chemicals and highly processed ingredients are adding toxins to the human diet, and changing nutritional habits for the better means improving what goes into the body. Ensuring excellent nutrition can potentially result in prescription medicines not being needed.
Dr John's holistic approach aims to treat conditions by looking at the cause rather than prescribing medications to treat the symptoms. He enjoys educating patients about alternatives to medication, preferring to focus instead on lifestyle modification and nutritional solutions where possible.
Helping patients with asthma and diabetes is another area of interest. A problem Dr John sees commonly amongst patients is the incorrect use of asthma medication, whether it be not having the most suitable medication, or not administering it effectively. He recommends patients see their GP for a review as soon as possible if asthma medication is not as effective as it should be.
With regard to diabetes, John enjoys helping patients consider the nutritional aspect of their disease, making diet and lifestyle changes to improve quality of life.
