Dr Jody Waters (GP)

Dr. Jody Waters is a North Queensland local, who studied a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at James Cook University. Jody graduated with High Distinction in 2007, receiving the JCU Gold Academic Medal for her academic achievements.

During her studies, Jody was also awarded the Rural Doctors Association of Queensland Prize in Rural Medicine, JCU Mick McLoughlin Memorial Prize in Rural Medicine, RACGP North Queensland Sub-Faculty Prize in General Practice, JCU Ethics Prize, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists Mental Health Prize, and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Women’s Health Award.

Jody began her internship at The Townsville Hospital in 2008, and then joined the Paediatric Team in 2009. Jody gained invaluable experience as a Paediatric Registrar and then Neonatal Intensive Care Registrar, in addition to time spent working in Emergency Medicine.

Jody commenced General Practice at Townsville Family Medical Centre in 2013, and has gained experiences at other Practices within the Townsville Region. Jody is currently working towards her fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, and Certificate in Sexual Health and Family Planning.

Jody enjoys all aspects of family medicine, but has particular interests in paediatrics, shared antenatal care, mental health and women’s health. When not at work, Jody enjoys spending time with her young family.
