Dr Menon joined the Coffs Harbour GP Super Clinic in September 2017 and has been very well received by the team and has built up quite a number of patients. He is also currently working as a consultant for the Clinical Performance Enhancement Project. Dr Menon has been a Private Medical Practitioner since 1969. From 1969 to 1971 Dr Menon served not only as the Honorary Associate Anaesthetist at the Nepean District Hospital but later was the assistant surgeon and VMO at Westmead Private Hospital. He was also the Honorary Medical Officer at the Governor Phillip Special Hospital. In 1970 Dr Menon went into solo general practice which he continues to maintain. He had other interests at the same time, which included other appointments such as Chairman of the Department of General Medicine at the Charles Wentworth Private Hospital and Medical Services Co-ordinator of the Holroyd Private Hospital, formally Guildford Heights Private Hospital. Der Menon is a past president of the Private Doctors of Australia and is a very well-known identity in the medical field. Dr Menon as a wealth of expertise and experience within the medical field. His involvement with Holroyd Private Hospital at present is as GP Representative on the Medical Advisory Committee. He also arranges and chairs regular clinical meetings together with live surgery demonstrations for GP’s at this hospital. He also involves the Western Sydney and Nepean Divisions of General Practice. He has served on the Education Committee of the Western Sydney Division of General Practice. He was the Conference Director of many medical conferences, perhaps the most notable being the Inaugural Conference of ‘IATROS’ (International Organisation for Private Medicine) at the Sydney Hilton in 1981, with keynote speakers being the Nobel Laureate in Economics, Professor Milton Friedman (USA) and Professor Michael Cooper (N.Z.) He also organised delegates from seven countries. Notable Australian spears which included Justice Michael Kirby. Dr Menon was the first medical practitioner to be invited to address the Pan-Pacific Pharmaceutical Medical Marketing Symposium in 1986. He was also a guest speaker at the Annual Conference of the Royal Australian Conference of General Practitioners. He was, of course, included in their biographical series of “Notable Australian Doctors”. Dr Menon was also a ‘keynote speaker” at the Inaugural Conference of the Rural Medical Doctors of Australia, the North Queensland Biennial Medical Conference and the North Queensland Chamber of Commerce. Just out of interest Dr Menon, while he was still a medical student, was a Co-Director of the “Festival of Asia”. This now defunct week-long programme involved functions at the Sydney Town Hall and the Conservatorium, under the patronage of the then Governor of NSW, Sir Roden Cutler. This was a great experience for a student.
