Jo graduated from the University of Newcastle with Honours. After completing her basic hospital training in Newcastle, Jo spent five years working in emergency departments and rural communities throughout the Northern Territory and the Kimberley region in WA. Jo developed a keen interest in Women’s Health and Paediatrics, and completed additional training in these areas. She then worked with Family Planning, and gained extensive experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health. Jo inserts contraceptive devices including IUDs and Implanon, performs vulval biopsies, and enjoys consulting on a broad range of issues.

Jo moved to the Northern Rivers region 9 years ago, and has worked at Tintenbar Medical Centre since 2010. She is the GP Representative for BreastScreen, and co-coordinates a local Women’s GP Group. Jo is particularly passionate about breast and cervical cancer screening, and regularly volunteers with organisations working throughout the Pacific to reduce cervical cancer rates.

When she is not at work Jo enjoys spending time with her young family surfing, mountain biking, and fishing.
