Dr Jesse Zanker (Geriatrician)

Dr Jesse Zanker works in rural Victoria and has appointments with Western Health, the University of Melbourne and Australian Institute of Musculoskeletal Science. He is undertaking a PhD in sarcopenia (the loss of muscle strength, function and mass) and is researching ways to improve the quality of life and independence of older adults.

Jesse has expertise in all areas of geriatric medicine, with particular interests in falls and fracture prevention, palliative medicine, and mental health in older age. He is passionate about the care of older adults from rural and LGBTIQ backgrounds, and those identifying as Aboriginal Australians. Jesse is a tutor and lecturer with the University of Melbourne School of Medicine. Jesse is on the Victorian committee of the Australian and New Zealand Society for Geriatric Medicine, is co-founder and Vice President of the Global Sarcopenia Alliance for Researchers and Clinicians in early career (GoSARC), and a member of the Australasian Association of Gerontology. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
