Whether it’s delivering a newborn calf, taking a chainsaw to a fallen tree, or slow-cooking a batch of his famous (and crazy-hot) sweet chilli sauce, Jason has skills that you would never know and probably won’t need. But since he also applies the same passion, skill and precision to every aspect of his professional life, you will be assured of second-to-none care, world leading knowledge and supreme surgical skills.
Jason has undertaken training in Australia and the United Kingdom, completing his PhD thesis in the surgical management of endometriosis in 2003. Since then, he has established himself as a leading teacher, trainer and gynaecological surgeon both nationally and internationally.
Jason has authored more than 100 scientific papers, is the International Editor of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynaecology and has written an undergraduate textbook in obstetrics and gynaecology. He heads the GRACE research unit at UNSW and is a sought after speaker.
Serving on the board of AGES, Chairing the Practice committee of the American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists (he is not even American!), the Royal Hospital for Women Foundation and being a founding member of Endometriosis Australia, Jason’s talents are used for both scientific and philanthropic purposes. With four PhD students, multiple honours and masters students and a heavy teaching load he is committed and passionate about making sure that science drives the care that you receive.
A previous nominee for Australian of the Year, Jason is firmly focused on women’s health issues locally and internationally. As a former gymnast and athlete he knows that hard work, balance and persistence are key ingredients of success. When he is not working (which is pretty much all of the time) he is on his farm raising beef cattle, repairing fences and growing stone fruit.
