Dr Jarrod Ngan completed his undergraduate medical degree from the University of Otago in 1997 and underwent anaesthesia training in Queensland from 1998 – 2005. He currently works in private practice with Narcosia Anaesthesia group after joining in 2013, but maintains regular sessions as a visiting medical officer at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

After completing specialist training, he worked in the public sector full time for 8 years, during which time he was a college supervisor of training, mentoring and assessing registrars. He also helped establish the simulation program, allowing registrars to learn resource management and effective communication during anaesthesia crises. Dr Ngan also held an interest in ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia, collaborating in a multi-centre registry and providing paravertebral anaesthesia for patients with painful rib fractures.

He has worked in the private sector since 2008 and joined Narcosia in 2013. He practices in most areas of anaesthesia, with a special interest in eye, ear nose and throat, urological and paediatric anaesthesia. His primary goal is to achieve patient focused, ethical practice of anaesthesia.

Outside of medicine Dr Ngan is dedicated to achieving work/life balance, devoting his time to his young family, friends, travelling and road cycling. Dr Ngan looks forward to working with you to achieve the best possible outcome for your anaesthetic.
