Dr. Jane Reffell started women’s health and wellbeing in 2002 as a holistic medical practice dealing with all aspects of women’s health.
Jane moved to Bangalow in 1995 with her husband and started their family, two gorgeous boys (she may be biased). It had always been her dream to create a medical practice for the unique health needs of women that was a special, pleasant, accessible and non threatening place both to visit as a patient or work as a doctor.
In creating women’s health and wellbeing her goal is to provide a safe and comfortable space for women to talk about their health, both physical and emotional and allow the time to do this. She creates a holistic approach to your health, integrating her medical background with her knowledge of complementary approaches and counselling to allow women a place to “put it all together” and see a bigger picture.
“There is a huge sense of achievement and enjoyment in my work. I feel passionate about your health and your wellbeing and this gives me the opportunity to be part of it and to support you through difficult times.” Jane’s practice centers around women’s health and mental health. Apart from dealing with all health issues included within these areas, Jane has a special interest in menopause, anxiety and depression.
Jane has been a GP for 35 years (in Sydney, London and Byron Bay) with an emphasis on women’s health during that time. She has a Family Planning Diploma and a Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling and Psychotherapy. She has taught anatomy to dancers at the CPA in Adelaide, in London she has been a doctor for the Royal College of Art, worked in sexual health and designed and implemented screening programmes for corporations . She has worked closely with complementary practitioners both in Australia and London, and is especially interested in nutritional approaches to health. Jane has recently studied with Biobalance learning about nutritional approaches to mental health issues.
