James completed his medical degree at Cape Town in South Africa and moved to Australia in 2003. Jame's initial posting in Australia was in Rockhampton and he enjoyed the change. But in 2005, wanting to pursue his ambition of becoming a specialist, James moved to Newcastle where he completed his physician training and afterwards his oncology training. James has worked for ANZ Breast Cancer Trials Group during 2009. He is currently finishing further study in epidemiology and biostatistics. James moved to the Northern Rivers and began work at Oncology North Coast in early 2010. He holds VMO appointments at St Vincent's Hospital Lismore, Lismore Base and Grafton Base Hospitals. James is actively involved in clinical trials, junior medical officer training and undergraduate medical student education.
