James is an established Queensland trained General and Bariatric Surgeon. He has been operating at the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital since its opening in 2014 and he has recently built a new consulting suite within the hospital.
James undertook his tertiary qualifications at the University of Queensland. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) before graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2003. James’ General Surgical training was based throughout South-East Queensland. After four years of supervised training and exams, he obtained his FRACS (Fellow Royal Australian College of Surgeons) in 2010. James was selected onto the ANZGOSA post-fellowship training program and undertook a further two years of sub-specialty training in high volume Bariatric and Gastro-intestinal (Upper GI) Surgery hospitals.
During his years in New Zealand and Melbourne he published articles in HPB and the ANZ Journal of Surgery and presented at the International Society for Diseases of the Oesophagus meeting. He is a member of ANZMOSS, IFSO, General Surgeons of Australia and the AMA. He is the General Surgical Representative for the Medical Advisory Board at SCUPH. He regularly attends conferences and clinical immersions to ensure his practice and knowledge is current with the latest surgical techniques.

James lives on the Sunshine Coast with his young family and is learning to surf. He also enjoys golf, tennis and park runs.
