Associate Professor Irwin Mohan's clinical and academic interests are in the endovascular treatment of aneurysmal and occlusive arterial disease, lower limb revascularisation (for claudication and critical ischaemia), aortic and popliteal aneurysms treatment with open surgical and endovascular technique, carotid artery disease and varicose veins using open surgical and laser (EVLT) techniques and including ultrasound guided sclerotherapy. He also has an interest in the medical management of peripheral arterial disease and Diabetic limb ischaemia.
His vascular Surgery training was carried out at major Vascular Units in the United Kingdom, and he did further training in Endovascular surgical techniques at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. A/Professor Mohan holds public appointment at Westmead Hospital, and is fully accredited at the Mater Hospital in Sydney, Sydney Adventist Hospital, Norwest Private Hospital and Macquarie Private Hospital and holds a Clinical Academic Appointment with the University of Sydney. He is an examiner with the European Board of Vascular Surgery Qualifications, and also for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeon and the University of Sydney. A/Professor Mohan did research at Imperial College, University of London, and serves as a reviewer for a number of international medical journals and has many publications in the field of vascular and endovascular surgery.
