Irena is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in fertility. She is an accredited Monash IVF specialist. known for her warm, caring nature and holistic approach to patient care. She is proud to be part of Fertility Tasmania, providing Tasmanians access to advanced fertility services and treatment. Born in Greece but raised in Tasmania, Irena graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tasmania, Followed by a Master of Forensic Science at the University of London. She worked in a number of medical laboratories both in London and Greece before returning to Hobart. Thereafter she worked for the Australian Red Cross Blood Service as their Scientific Officer and Quality Control Manager. Irena then completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours at the University of Tasmania in 2004. She trained in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the Royal Hobart Hospital, and at Launceston General Hospital. Since 2013, she has been undertaking advanced training in infertility at TasIVF. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a Staff Specialist at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
