Dr Hemant Sharma is a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist at Townsville Private Clinic and Townsville Hospital. His interests extend into general adult psychiatry and he has experience in a broad range of mental health domains including mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders as well as psychiatric disorders related to other medical conditions. Dr Sharma has been practicing medicine since 1991. Prior to psychiatry he practiced cardiothoracic surgery in India, New Zealand and Australia. In 2003, Dr Sharma and his family relocated to New Zealand from their native India. They briefly lived in Brisbane before settling in the tropical climate of Townsville in 2009. Dr Sharma is passionate about delivering holistic care. He aims to provide care that promotes overall health inclusive of physical, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual aspects of life. Dr Sharma’s strengths lie in his ability to individualise treatments based on specific needs of his patients. Dr Sharma has a keen interest in travelling and exploring facets of different cultures. He takes an active interest in environmental sustainability and is enthusiastic about astronomy.
