MBBS (Adelaide), MRCP (UK), Specialist certification examination (SCE) gastroenterology (MRCP), FRACP, Grad Dip Clin Res Methods (Monash), PhD (Monash) Dr Hamish Philpott specialises in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, dysphagia (difficulty swallowing), food allergy, inflammatory bowel disease and endoscopy. He graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2001, has undertaken additional training interstate and overseas (United Kingdom and North America) is passionate about medical research and applying the latest evidence to clinical practice. Dr Philpott has been a gastroenterologist since 2011. He was awarded a NHMRC scholarship in 2012 and completed a PhD at Monash University Melbourne, whilst also serving as a senior gastroenterologist (The Alfred Hospital and Eastern Health) between 2012 and 2017. He has studied in North America and the United Kingdom, has more than 40 publications in peer reviewed journals and was awarded the annual Philip Bushell Travelling Fellowship in 2016, enabling travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to further research on eosinophilic oesophagits, and gain clinical experience in managing complex neurogastroenterological conditions.
