Gull lives and works in Bellingen NSW. He has always had a keen interest, nay passion, for mindful integration: Everything is connected. His consulting work with individuals influences his involvement in a wide range of community projects. More recently he has expanded his reach to a societal level through the AIMA board. What gets him out of bed in the morning is doing things differently, finding more creative and innovative ways to work collaboratively. What gets him to bed at night is having really busy, interesting and exciting days.
Born in England, he gained his first degree, BSc(Hons) in Physiology, from the University of Western Australia in 1986. He then travelled widely, living abroad for many years, enhancing his informal education. In 2002 he graduated from the University of Sydney’s Graduate Medical Program and since 2004 has worked as a GP at the Bellingen Healing Centre on the mid-north coast of New South Wales. As a GP, Gull adopted an integrative approach to the practice of medicine from the outset, integrating a diverse range of evidence based therapeutic options. Gull has an abiding interest in the underlying causes of health and disease, in the spirit of Sir Archibald Garrod (Professor of Medicine at Oxford) who questioned: “Why does this patient have this disease? And why at this time?” His interest in Lyme disease was sparked in 2010 when a patient came in and told him she had it. Since then he has been keenly exploring the subject and extending his integrative approach. Gull currently devotes about half his practice to Lyme disease. He is a member of ILADS (International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society), has attended two European ILADS conferences and completed further training with Lyme experts in both Germany and the USA. The lack of official recognition of acute and chronic Lyme disease in Australia, and the multi-system dysfunction (biological and political) intrigue Gull. He is excited by the exponential growth in understanding of the disease. Outside of medicine he spends time with his family, fronts the band, Fabric and is an active member of his local community.
