Grant was born in, and grew up in Perth- attending UWA School of Medicine from 1987-1992. He did most of his junior training at SCGH before travelling to work and study in Sydney and in Chichester in the UK.

After this, he once again returned to SCGH where he entered the FRACP training programme as an immunology trainee at RPH, SCGH and Fremantle Hospital.

Working with Dr Simon Mallal, he participated and co-authored a paper published in The Lancet that demonstrated one of the 1st clear pharmacogenomic associations of a drug hypersensitivity with particular HLA groups.

He has published other papers in a variety of scientific journals.

Once he completed his advanced training in Clinical Immunology and Allergy, he embarked on further study and was accepted into Dermatology training in 2001, and obtained his college fellowship FACD in 2005.

In 2005 he commenced work as a dermatologist at Duncraig Dermatology, Burswood Dermatology and St John of God Dermatology in Subiaco.

As a consultant dermatologist at SCGH, he was actively involved in the teaching of dermatology trainees and 5th and 6th year medical students. previously, he was a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee of the Australian College of Dermatologists.

In 2011 he left the hospital system to set up Loftus Street Dermatology.

He has a broad interest in Dermatology- surgical and medical, adult and paediatric with a special interest in autoimmunity.

In his spare time he enjoys swimming, reading non-fiction,playing the guitar loudly and beating his children in table-tennis.
