Orthopaedics SA and an Orthopaedic Surgeon with more than three decades’ experience. He developed particular expertise in the surgical treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and now specialises in providing medico-legal expertise and permanent impairment assessments.
With Orthopaedics SA, Dr Morrison practises at Memorial Medical Centre. A former Orthopaedic Staff Specialist and Consultant in Spinal Injury at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, he has been a Visiting Orthopaedic Consultant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Director of the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma. Dr Morrison has served as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with the RAAF, and as a Specialist Reserve Wing Commander, he deployed to Rwanda in 1995, Bougainville in 1999 and East Timor in 2000-2001.
After completing his original medical and surgical training in Scotland (Edinburgh Academy and University of Dundee), Dr Morrison undertook orthopaedic training in Adelaide from 1980-1984, followed by further postgraduate training in Edinburgh and London. He has had a lifelong interest in surgical teaching, which led to serving as Chair of the SA Orthopaedic Training Programme and then Director of Training for the Australian Orthopaedic Association and Chair of the College Board of Orthopaedic Surgery for Australia and New Zealand. He is currently a Clinical Lecturer with the University of Adelaide.
