Dr Gillian Mahy is a Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist, specialising in all aspects of gastroenterology, general hepatology and upper and lower GI endoscopy. Dr Mahy's subspecialty interests are in the areas of Inflammatory Bowel disease (IBD) as well as interventional endoscopy and ERCP.
She holds a MBChB, BSc (Hons), FRCP (Lon), FRACP.
Dr Gillian Mahy graduated BSc(Hons) from the University of Glasgow UK in 1987 and MBChB in 1990. General (Internal) Medicine training was completed in 1993 with the award of MRCP. Advanced specialist training in medicine and gastroenterology was undertaken at St Bart's and UCL in London and completed in 2000. From 2000 Dr.Mahy was a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist and Director of the Endoscopy and IBD services at North Hampshire Hospitals Trust, as well as Medical Advisor to the National Association of Crohn's and Colitis UK and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London until relocating to Townsville with her family from the UK in August 2006. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) was awarded in 2008. Dr Mahy's subspecialist interests are particularly in IBD and interventional endoscopy. Gillian is an active researcher and member of the Australia-New Zealand IBD Research consortium whose major objective is to progress knowledge and clinical practice in the field of IBD (http://c-c-cure.org/the-anz-consortium/). Gillian also is a senior staff specialist at The Townsville Hospital and Senior lecturer at JCU.
