Dr Gerard Ariotti is a Queensland-trained anaesthetist who currently divides his time between private and public anaesthesia practice. After spending his formative years in North Queensland, Dr Ariotti graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 2002. During this time he received two University prizes for undergraduate physiology. Dr Ariotti has significant experience both in emergency and intensive care medicine, having worked for more than 3 years in busy emergency departments both in London and Queensland.
A keen outdoor enthusiast, in 2012 Dr Ariotti completed a Fellowship in Anaesthesia and Retrieval Medicine with the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Careflight Medical Services Qld. He has undertaken post-graduate training in clinical ultrasound and, as a senior lecturer for the University of Queensland School of Medicine, has an ongoing active role in teaching medical students and anaesthetic trainee doctors. Dr Ariotti regularly lectures on resuscitation & crisis management for the college of anaesthesia (ANZCA) primary examination candidates, and has presented research ANZCA national meetings. Dr Ariotti joined Narcosia Anaesthesia Group in 2015 while maintaining a part-time consultant anaesthetist position at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane.
Dr Ariotti’s current practice involves anaesthesia for a variety of surgical specialties, including orthopaedic, general, obstetric, maxillofacial and vascular surgery as well as coronary catheterisation procedures. His academic interests include ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia and the management of trauma.
Outside of medicine, Gerard enjoys travel, music, football and spending time with his young family. He is currently attempting to master a repertoire of nursery rhymes on his acoustic guitar.
