Geoffrey Lane graduated in Sydney and travelled to Perth after his internship. He completed his local post-graduate training in Cardiology at Royal Perth and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospitals. His overseas post graduate experience included two years at the Post Graduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital, London and four years in South Africa at the Groote Schuur Hospital, Capetown. Geoff returned to Western Australia in 1976 to establish the Department of Cardiology at Fremantle Hospital and saw the unit grow into one of the major centres for cardiovascular training and research in the state. His main interests include the management of acute and chronic ischaemic heart disease and the management of cardiac failure.
