Dr Gavin Soo is an Australia Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Conjoint Lecturer at University of NSW, with an interest in advanced arthroscopy in shoulder and elbow surgery, shoulder replacement, knee surgery and complex trauma surgery. Dr Soo earned his medical degree at the University of New South Wales and continued on with his Orthopaedic Surgical Training in Sydney, NSW. He followed this by completing a shoulder and elbow fellowship with Specialty Orthopaedic Group in Sydney where he was trained in arthroscopic and open surgical techniques. Dr Soo received further subspecialty training by completing shoulder and elbow fellowships overseas in France and Switzerland, training under the supervision of internationally renown shoulder and elbow surgeons. With a passion for trauma surgery, he also completed a trauma and reconstructive surgical fellowship in Charité University Hospital, Berlin, Germany. With this intensive subspecialty training, Dr Soo is able offer his patients advanced arthroscopic techniques in the treatment of rotator cuff tears, and shoulder instability, as well as treatment of arthritis, complex fractures and other less common shoulder and elbow conditions. Dr Soo continues to perform clinical research in an effort to deliver the most advanced and proven patient care possible. He has published articles in peer reviewed journals and presented at national and international meetings. Dr Soo enjoys giving back to the community. He has worked in local community groups such as Harris Park Progress VIllage association as well as larger charity groups such as Variety Club Children's Charity. He has also spent time doing volunteer work as an orthopaedic outreach surgeon in East Timor. As a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, Dr Soo is committed to providing the highest standard of care to his patients. He has a passion for teaching, leading him to undertake numerous mentoring and conjoint lecturing roles at his hospitals and the University of Western Sydney and University of NSW medical schools. Dr Soo is currently accredited at Waratah Private Hospital and Norwest Private Hospital. He is currently employed at St Vincent's Public Hospital, Sydney, as a Trauma surgeon. When he is not working, Dr Soo spends most of his free time with his wife and daughter. He enjoys playing golf, tennis, touch football, running, squash and skiing.
