Dr Garrath Evans (Urologist)
Dr Evans provides specialist urological services to both male and female patients with specialty in the areas of upper tract, incontinence and erectile dysfunction disorders. Originally from Brisbane, Dr Evans received training and medical experience in leading hospitals throughout Queensland as well as in Ireland.
With a patient-centred philosophy, Dr Evans enjoys forming relationships with his patients so they feel comfortable discussing their medical concerns with him, right from initial consultations through the diagnosis, treatment and after-care processes that may follow. His dedication to ensuring patients in the Far North receive the best urological care possible is evidenced in his regular delivery of Cancer Council presentations to audiences comprised of doctors, patients and their families. Dr Evans is also a trainer and mentor to Urological Registrars, junior doctors and medical students.
At the forefront of his field, Dr Evans is expertly trained and experienced in the conduct of robotic surgeries. This type of surgery enables Dr Evans to perform potentially lifesaving operations using non-invasive techniques that allow for quicker recovery with less pain and potential side effects. Whilst the facilities required for these surgeries are not yet available in the Far North, Dr Evans has partnered with Greenslopes Hospital in Brisbane so that he is able to perform surgeries on his own patients. In doing so, patients are able to receive end-to-end urological care from the same specialist, rather than having to re-explain their symptoms and conditions and double-up on tests. On arriving home, they are able to continue receiving care locally by Dr Evans and his friendly, professional team.
