Gale graduated from the University of Queensland in 1978 with a Medical degree and an unfinished Arts degree.
After her hospital training, she worked for Community Indigenous Health organisations for 10 years.
She still cherishes the insights this provided into a culture she profoundly respects.
She values difference, and the enrichment that non-dominant cultures offer.
The appalling suicide rate of transgendered people galvanised her to research and offer services to this vulnerable and misunderstood minority, in both specialised practice for Queensland Health and in the general practice setting.
