Dr. Fariha Balouch graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College, University of Punjab in Lahore, a prestigious institute in Pakistan. She undertook general paediatric training in University teaching hospitals in Pakistan, Oman then Australia and completed Paediatric Gastroenterology training at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Brisbane now called the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital (LCCH). RCH/LCCH provides high-level specialist paediatric gastroenterology services for Queensland. At completion of her training she was offered a position at LCCH as clinical lead in Liver Transplant and as a senior member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) service. She works closely with Dr Lewindon in both where she has interests in research, education and the development of non-invasive disease monitoring. She is Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. Fariha represents Queensland and Australia on the international Consortium of Study of Paediatric Liver Transplantation (SPLIT). Her particular clinical expertise is management of children with inflammatory bowel disease, liver diseases and complex gastrointestinal problems. Fariha, together with Dr Lewindon is pleased to visit the Sunshine Coast from Brisbane to provide a highly specialised consultation service to local paediatricians and general practitioners.
